Corporate Training: Why Invest in Soft Skills

In an ever-evolving professional landscape, technical skills alone are no longer sufficient to ensure a company’s success. Increasingly, soft skills are proving essential in fostering a productive and positive work environment.

But what are soft skills?

Soft skills, or interpersonal skills, encompass a range of personal knowledge and abilities applied across various situations. In contrast, hard skills, or technical skills, consist of the knowledge and competencies necessary for performing the tasks associated with a specific professional role.

As a high-tech service company, Syscons invests in technical training for its colleagues, who to date have achieved over 400 certifications through partner platforms.

However, the need to adapt quickly to the frequent changes in the job market has underscored the importance of investing in training on broader, cross-functional topics as well.

Soft skills training equips employees to face challenges with resilience, building skills such as stress management and flexibility. These competencies help sustain productivity, even during times of change.

In January 2024, the company held an inaugural workshop titled “Work and Stress,” aimed at fostering greater awareness of each participant’s professional role and sharing a set of potential actions and attitudes to effectively manage workplace stress.

For the last quarter of 2024, three additional courses focusing on key relational skills are scheduled.

The Effective Communication course, conducted in September by lecturer and occupational psychologist Andrea Farinelli, brought together middle and senior professionals from the offices in Turin, Milan, and Padua to the Milan headquarters. Participants explored and discussed elements that contribute to effective interactions.

In October, sessions for the Project Management course were held at the Turin office, targeted at senior colleagues from Turin, Milan, and Padua. Led by instructor Diego Massucco, this course aimed to provide tools for addressing project setup, organization, and control challenges.

Finally, in November, four sessions of the Effective Negotiation course are underway, bringing together senior and staff professionals from the Turin, Milan, and Padua offices at the Turin headquarters. This course aims to provide the theoretical foundation necessary to understand and apply key negotiation strategies and widely adopted negotiation models.

Investing in soft skills training is a winning strategy that offers numerous benefits not only to companies but also promotes personal and professional growth for employees, making them more skilled and motivated. In a competitive job market, providing opportunities for training and professional development enhances job satisfaction and reduces turnover. Recognizing the importance of training and prioritizing personal and professional growth is therefore essential.
